About Me

Hello! This is Zhi Ming. I am a PhD candidate in Political Science at York University, Canada. My specializations are in Women and Politics (Major), International Relations, and Political Ecology.

My dissertation examines clean energy transitions and sustainability projects in Southeast Asia and Canada, exploring global/regional relations constituted at sites of clean energy. I also research and write about conflict-related gender based violence, and postcolonial movements across Asia. As an international scholar, my research has been awarded the Vivienne Poy Asian Research Award and the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (International Stream).

I am also the founder of Critical Malaya Studies (CMS) Research Group, supported by the York Centre for Asian Studies (YCAR) and the Canada-ASEAN initiatives.
